Sunday morning was warm and hazy. There were 14 people at the 8:00 am service and 49 in attendance at the 10:00 am service. It was the Fifth Sunday Of Easter. The Processional Hymn was, “In Christ There Is No East Or West” and the Sequence Hymn was, “O Love Of God, How Strong And True.” The Gospel Reading was from John 13:31-35.
At the last supper, when Judas had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once. Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.' I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
We learn from this passage that Jesus will soon not be with his disciples and he tells them that as he has loved them, they must now love one another and then everyone will know that they are Jesus’ disciples. The Offertory Anthem was, “From All That Dwell Below The Skies.” The Communion Hymns were, “Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us With Your Love” and “Jerusalem, My Happy Home.” The Recessional Hymn was, “Oh What Their Joy And Their Glory Must Be.”
