Another busy weekend at All Saints’. Saturday evening was the twelfth All Saints’ “Major Tom’s” Coffee House. There was a smaller crowd due to the holiday weekend, but the music and fellowship was great and everyone had a great time.
Sunday morning was sunny and warm. There were 10 people at the 8:00 am service and 49 in attendance at the 10:00 am service. It was the Sixth Sunday Of Easter and Rogation Sunday. The Processional Hymn was, “Morning Has Broken” and the Sequence Hymn was, “Like The Murmur Of A Dove’s Song.” The Gospel Reading was from John 14:23-29.
Jesus said to Judas (not Iscariot), "Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me.
"I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, `I am going away, and I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe."
We learn from this passage of the Jesus telling all to love him and keep his word and they will loved by God and find a place with him. The Offertory Anthem was sung by Tom Espenshade, who we thank for providing the music while Arkady Leytush was on vacation. The Communion Hymns were, “Sing My Soul, His Wondrous Love” and “All Things Bright And Beautiful.” The Recessional Hymn was, “The Battle Hymn Of The Republic.”
The altar flowers were given by Michael and Shirley DellaVecchia to the glory of God in loving memory of Sheila Thorpe. The Sanctuary Lamp was given by Susan and Paul Parfrey to the glory of God and in celebration of Iris Parfrey’s birthday. The Vigil Lamp was given by Stephanie Hornback to the glory of God and in celebration of Andy Hornback’s 44th birthday. The bread and wine of the Eucharist were given by Ed and Nancy Benedict to the glory of God and in loving memory of “Our troops here and overseas."
The Coffee Hour was filled with chatter and laughter as our parishioners greeted one another. The Coffee Hour was hosted by Paul Walton. There were brownies, cake and donuts for all to enjoy with their coffee and tea. It was another wonderful Sunday at All Saints’!
